Huize Boschoord is located on the edge of the Frisian Sint Nicolaasga, in the middle of the Frisian lake area, just 5 minutes by car from the A6, exit 19. The estate is located directly next to the special forest area, the Vegelinbos.
Characteristic Frisian places such as Heerenveen, Joure, Sneek, Langweer, Woudsend, Sloten and Heeg are within a stone’s throw and can easily be reached by bicycle or car.
With its waterfront location, the Langweerder Wielen, Langweer is a fantastic base for sailing and sloop trips.
Also, 3 km away, between St. Nicolaasga and Langweer, you will find the golf course, Burggolf St. Nyk.
Huize Boschoord offers a fantastic stay, relatively close Amsterdam, only an hour’s drive from Schiphol.
Events & activities
Cycling
Cycling in Friesland means enjoying the meadows, picturesque towns and beautiful cycle routes. For example, choose the ferry route. A round of Sneekermeer where you can use a ferry at least 3 times.
Sailing
You can sail on all Frisian lakes. The choice is yours whether with a sailing boat, rowing boat, flat bottom or an other type of boat.
Langweer is only 4 km away the nearest boarding point.
Golf
The 18-hole golf course St. Nyk (Public Golf Course of Burggolf) is just 3 km away, 5 minutes by car.
Touring with the fiat Spider
Touring with the fiat Spider from Huize Boschoord through the area on the beautiful country roads will introduce you to the unique Frisian landscape.
Walking/hiking
Walk around the pond, through the Vegelin forest – or take a longer hike into the Frisian landscape. These are some of your options when you stay in Huize Boschoord.
Horse riding
The nearby bridleways are perfect for horse riding.
You can keep your own horse at nearby horse boarding houses.
Ice skating
Ice skating can be done in Heerenveen (15 km away) in the beautiful Thialf Arena.
If there is natural ice during winter you can skate on the natural ice rink in Langweer, and perhaps even on the beautiful pond at Huize Boschoord.
Sightseeing
Due to the central location in Friesland of Sint Nicolaasga, all museums in Friesland (and the Netherlands) can be easily reached. But do you mainly opt for the immediate environment? Then we would like to refer you to:
Clockmaker’s museum
There is a clockmaker’s museum in Joure, and the Douwe Egberts museum will introduce you to the history of this area.
Lakes
There are dozens of lakes around Sint Nicolaasga: Slotermeer, Tjeukemeer, Kufurd.
In addition, the port towns of Stavoren, Hindeloopen and Lemmer are very close.
Mill of Langweer
The unique grain mill in Langweer. Unique because this is both a water- and windmill.
Wouda Pump Station in Lemmer
The Wouda pumping station in Lemmer. This steam pumping station is still used when excessive water has to be pumped out.
